My Westerdahl has had one incredible weight loss journey, losing over 80KG in 4 years (2010-2014) and even through ups and downs, has lost over 100KG of fat in the last 7 years.
My was at a doctors appointment, tipping the scales at 170KGS or almost 375lbs and she was told that unless things started to turn around, she could die within the next two years due to complications with her weight.
This shock lead My down the search for a new diet, something she could stick to and could change her whole relationship with food. The ketogenic (low carb high fat) diet, turned out to be just what she needed and using these principles, combined with a new heavy weight training gym routine, My unbelievably, started to lose weight easily!
Eat bacon, burgers, avocados and butter and lose weight? Lose over 100KG by limiting carbs and sugar? This is My’s story and she was kind enough to answer some questions and walk us through exactly how she did it!

My Westerdahl Weight Loss Diet:
I follow a Ketogenic (keto) diet, so a typical day of eating would look like:
Breakfast: BulletProof Coffee (15g real butter + 2 tablespoon MCT-Oil mixed with 500ml of coffee).
Lunch: 200g Bacon with 200g butterfried cabbage.
Dinner: 200g Beef with 200g roasted veggies such as cauliflower, sugarsnap peas, with full fat sauces & paprika, spiced butter.
My Westerdahl Weight Loss Workout:
I did not workout when I had my max weight. I lost 40 kilos in one year just by sitting on the sofa, eating bacon. Now I started to workout, just heavylifting.

Tuesday: Chest + Shoulders
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Back + Biceps + Triceps
Friday: Leg Day
Saturday: Power Walk
Sunday: Rest
My workout consists of classic powerlifting exercises such as bench press, squats and bicep curls. I do 10 reps x 5 sets, with a longer break in between after 3 sets.

What Was Your Diet Like Originally?
Before, my diet would consist of 60% carbs, 20% fat, 20% protein.
What Made You Start Getting Healthy?
The doctor told me I had 2 years left to live so I knew I had to make a huge change, and it was then I found the keto-diet. For me, it made it so easy to lose weight.
What Was Your Mindset Like Before Compared To Now?
I had no confidence and hated myself. Now, I love my body and I’m not afraid of any challenges in my life.
What Small Changes Do You Think Had The Biggest Impact?
Cutting out the carbs and eating more fat. It makes me feel fuller for longer and doesn’t make me crave food as much as eating more carbs did. Also, I get my health checked regularly and I have perfect cholesterol levels.
How Did You Stay Motivated?
I take it one day at a time. I do not promise myself that I’ll stay away from carbs all my life. Just this meal, then next meal and the next and so on. All of my small promises have added up to losing 95 kilograms of fat.
Were There Any Particular Tough Points On Your Journey?
Yes. When I got married, I treated myself and ate some wedding cake and after getting married, I didn’t stop eating carbs for 9 months. It made me gain back 20 kilograms. But then I decided to take it one ‘carb free’ day at a time and I lost it all again + 15 kilos more!
What Advice Would You Give Someone Looking To Lose Weight?
Stop counting calories. Stop being so afraid of fat. Instead, cut out the carbs to 20g per day (from veggies) and fil up with fat. It’s so freaking easy and you never have to measure your food again and you can lose all that extra weight without being hungry.
What Are Your Favourite Healthy/Weight Loss Recipes?
Bacon and cheese burgers with a lot of sauce but instead of the bun or bread, you use salad or lettuce. Beef with veggies and spiced butter.
Any Advice/Tips On Prepping Meals In Advance? How Do You Do It?
I do all my lunches every Sunday and go shopping for dinners the same day. I just buy all my food that I eat for the week so there is no room for snacking.
